OT: Whatcha think of these? Carvin copy of Altec?

The seller says they're a copy of Altec cabinets....... well we can see that they are not a copy in the literal sense, but maybe in concept. They certainly look interesting, and remind me of the H110, but probably a little smaller. I won't be bidding, but thought I'd ask for the sake of curiosity.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

I don't have a lot of experience with Carvin gear as in my area we were always sandwiched between 2 full line Peavey dealers that very adequately filled the niche at that level.

The few pieces i've used were right on par with what i'd expect from them or Peavey being "pricepoint" marketeers. Really good "bang for the buck" gear.

Or was i supposed to comment on the "sub-woofer" part of the seller's title/description?

I swear, some guys would call a doorknob a "sub" or "sub-woofer".

So Carvin was/is a budget brand? I figured they were higher end, but I guess the name reminds me of Carver. I wondered if the cabinets would be any improvement acoustically over Altec cabinets.

Yes, I agree........reminds me of people that call a radial arm saw, a table saw....... it's a saw and has a table, therefore it must be a table saw, even though it looks nothing like an actual table saw.

Interesting! Looks like one of my old chopped down 825s that I've periodically mentioned. Didn't know any were marketed.
